Everyone has a different perspective on how to live a meaningful life. Some people may find meaning in their relationship with family, some may find meaning in their work/ profession.
For me, I find meaning in doing service at Nalanda Buddhist Society. I came to know about Nalanda after joining the Dhamma-living Camp for Young Adults in 2019. I remember that I completed the camp with a better understanding of myself and my life based on the 38 blessings. One of the most important learning was that the important focus for us young people is to grow deep roots. We want to be the tallest and biggest tree in the forest. Hence it is crucial that we are deeply rooted. The ‘growing tall and growing fruits’ — that will take care of itself.
From there, I gradually became more active in joining the Youth Sunday Service to continue learning Dhamma with a group of like-minded friends. I found that when I have a group of kalyana mitta (good friends) to share my spiritual beliefs and values, I can deepen my understanding and gain new insights in my spiritual journey.
Currently, I am a Dhamma School Facilitator, hoping to share the seed of Dhamma with the young children and teenagers. It is joyful to see their transformation and receive positive feedback from their parents.
I hope that more people are able to give meaning to their lives every day. Sukhi Hontu
